Taking Dawn are very much a new entity, but the Las Vegas band has been owning big stages and grabbing fans like veterans of the game. Often mislabeled as a throwback band -- which frontman/guitarist Chris Babbitt will be quick to correct if you say 'glam' -- the foursome's big melodies and soaring guitars by way of a dual lead guitarist attack put them in their own field.

Their cover of Fleetwood Mac's classic, 'The Chain,' is actually the closer on the band's Roadrunner debut, 'Time to Burn,' which upon watching this video one would never think. Closer tracks are meant for a fade out in solitude, but their take on 'The Chain' -- faithful to the original -- keeps driving for more hard rock punches.

According to Babbitt, this was the song the band was the proudest of in terms of recording, and it should be. Taking the long forgotten video style of showing a band in a studio session and hauling their own gear while laughing at the day -- it all feels like something missing has come home.

At the end of the month, Taking Dawn begin a string of dates opening for Slash.
