To celebrate the 10-year anniversary of its major label debut ‘Page Avenue,' Story of the Year are releasing a brand new acoustic version of the album titled ‘Ten Years and Counting.'

The new record will feature reimagined takes on some of the band’s most popular songs, including ‘Until the Day I Die’ and ‘Anthem of Our Dying Day.’ While talking about the release, guitarist Ryan Phillips compared it to some of his favorite acoustic albums. “I am a child of the '90s, and to me the Pearl Jam unplugged album is one of my favorite acoustic performances and recordings of all time," said Phillips. "Like the legendary 'Nirvana Unplugged,' Pearl Jam didn't really change the songs at all; for the most part they played the album versions of the songs and simply swapped electric guitars for acoustics, and they captured magic."

He went on to add, "We wanted to split the difference between that approach and an all out departure from the original songs; a sort of middle ground that wasn't too far in either direction.  I think we found a dynamic and interesting middle ground, utilizing pianos, percussion, synths, keys, acoustics, etc, and reimagined these songs while still retaining the spirit of the originals.”

In anticipation of 'Ten Years and Counting', Story of the Year have released a teaser video to give fans a taste of what they’ll hear on the album. The clip can be seen above.

“We knew we wanted to do something special for the ten year anniversary, something that would honor the original songs but at the same time give everyone a completely different experience,” says lead singer Dan Marsala. “We basically stripped down every song and started from scratch.  I love the vulnerability that shines through on this record. These songs have truly stood the test of time and I couldn't be more proud to be experiencing 10 years of 'Page Avenue.' Here's to another 10 years!"

'Ten Years and Counting' is due out digitally on Oct 8. A small number of limited edition CDs will be available on Story of the Year’s upcoming Scream Like You Mean It' tour.
