Narrows

On April 24, while many metalheads will be running from room to room at New England Hardcore and Metal Fest, New Yorkers will get a very intimate set from Narrows. The metallers will play a show -- which was put together by 1,000 Knives and BrooklynVegan -- at Manhattan's Cake Shop with Acid Tiger and I Hate Our Freedom. Narrows frontman Dave Verellen told Noisecreep what he most looks forward to in his trips to the Big Apple are "in no particular order: meeting up with our old pals, seeing pretty girls on every street and garlic knots."

Because the band has members from all over the world, it's a bit difficult to arrange rehearsals. But the band was able to meet up in San Diego a couple weeks before the New York show.

"While there, we practiced and played two shows to grease up the wheels. Also, the nice guys in Acid Tiger are letting us use their space for a day to practice before the Cake Shop show," Verellen said before suggesting to repeat his last sentence five times and fast.

While Deathwish Inc. has not yet announced a release date for the Narrows/Heiress split, Verellen says the band will have copies by the time they play New York City.

"As far as secrets go, I can tell you that if you play [the split] backwards while you are sitting naked with a candle burning and an apple in your mouth, something magical will happen ... I'm not sure how it works scientifically, but if you take a picture of you doing it, all of the dead pets you had as a child will appear. P.S. If anyone tries it, send us the picture," Verellen said.

From late April to early May, Narrows will also play shows in Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Belguin, France, England and Scotland.
