This has been an exciting week for Van Halen fans. First news surfaced that the hard rock titans would be releasing a new studio album and touring in 2012, and now there's word that Van Halen has been rehearsing two or three times a week at the Roxy Theatre in Hollywood, Calif., for the past two months.

The Roxy Theatre blog sheds a little light on the top secret rehearsals.

"Do you have any idea how hard that was to not tell you?? When you come in at 10:00 a.m. and David Lee Roth, Eddie Van Halen, Alex Van Halen, and Wolfgang Van Halen are on stage with three other people in the room playing 'Running With The Devil' and you can't say anything?! It's tough, to put it simply."

Van Halen currently features David Lee Roth (vocals), brothers Eddie (guitars) and Alex Van Halen (drums), along with Eddie's 20-year-old son Wolfgang Van Halen on bass.

The band's recent tour announcement trailer was also shot during one of their Roxy rehearsals. The clip uses classic David Lee Roth-era tunes for the audio, but the band is really performing a new and unreleased single in the clip. Van Halen will release a new single and support video on Jan. 10 with a new studio album to follow on Feb. 7. The name of the upcoming album remains a secret.

Dates and cities for the tour will be announced Jan. 3 and tickets go on sale beginning on Jan. 10. Van Halen was last out on the road in 2007.
