The Black Dahlia Murder Drummer Shannon Lucas Quits Band
Drummer Shannon Lucas has officially quit The Black Dahlia Murder.
The Virginia native had joined the Detroit-based death metal group in 2007, and played on the Nocturnal (2007), Deflorate (2009), Ritual (2011) albums. He was also once a member of All That Remains, yet he never recorded any albums with the band.
Lucas, 29, released a video statement (seen below) where he explains his reasoning behind his exit. Basically, the drummer wants to try out "other things," but he promises to keep busy on the musical front.
Besides working on a grindcore project, Lucas will begin tracking drums in January for an album with a supergroup which will also feature vocalist George 'Corpsegrinder' Fisher (Cannibal Corpse) and guitarist Adam D. (Killswitch Engage). He will also be opening a tattoo shop in 2013 with his wife.
Lucas actually recommended Alan Cassidy (ex-Abigail Williams), his temporary replacement in The Black Dahlia Murder, who can currently be seen with the band out on tour opening for Dethklok.
