Sons of Liberty, ‘Brush-Fires of the Mind’ — New Album
Sometimes metal bands are bothered by current events and react by writing songs with political lyrics. Iced Earth frontman Jon Schaffer has taken his dismay with recent happenings several steps further by forming a new band, Sons of Liberty, to voice his protest and inform his fans about injustice, inequality and governmental corruption. The band's debut full-length, 'Brush-Fires of the Mind' will be released on July 13.
In addition to recording an album about the tyranny of tainted democracy, Schaffer has launched the resource website as a think tank for fans. The site contains numerous links, books and movie recommendations and more. Schaffer publicly launched Sons of Liberty on the Alex Jones radio show.
Schaffer named Sons of Liberty after a secret organization comprised of notable United States' patriots that formed in 1765. These patriots worked fervently to expose and resist the tyranny that the colonists were subjected to, which ultimately led to the American Revolution. Schaffer plays all the instruments and sings in the band, which features guest solos by producer Jim Morris, Iced Earth guitarist Troy Seele and bassist Ruben Drake.
