Megasus Are a Rock Band of Guitar Heroes
As Providence, R.I.'s metal mavens Megasus gear up to release their debut record on 20 Buck Spin this November, the fascinating details of their more-than-humble beginnings are surfacing. Consisting of members of Lightning Bolt and former members of Amazing Royal Crowns is one claim to fame, but the big clincher lies in the fact that all four members of Megasus are also employed by Harmonix -- creators of the 'Rock Band' and 'Guitar Hero' games.
Given their employment status, the band already has two songs featured within the games. 'Red Lottery' appears on 'Guitar Hero II,' and their namesake track 'Megasus' is downloadable on 'Rock Band.' Though both tracks will be available on their self-titled full-length due later this fall, that's not a band start for a band of 'wild power.'
Taking influence from High on Fire, Slayer, Electric Wizard and Karp, the riff-heavy sound is best summed up by the band's publicity, who state: "Riding forth like thunderbolts cast from the hammer of Thor, the eight hooves of the Megasus burn a trail of ice across the winter sky."
Though a self-released, limited edition vinyl version of the self-titled debut was released earlier this year, the proper worldwide release is slated for Nov. 24. A tour in support of the album is also in the works.
