A man who witnesses later described as looking like Santa Claus has been arrested and charged in the stabbing death of Gregory Pianka, bassist for San Francisco hard rockers Dirty Looks. The incident happened Feb. 6 at a pub in Millcreek Township, Penn. Pianka was 35.

According to reports, Millcreek police have arrested 64-year-old Joseph Lumsden Jr. with criminal homicide and a number of other offenses. He was arraigned before District Judge Paul Manzi and taken to the Erie County Prison, where he is being held without bail. He was wearing a red sweater at the time of the incident and is said to have a big white beard.

Police claim that Lumsden stabbed Pianka at the Hi & Dri Pub at about 11:40 PM during an argument. Police did not say what the argument was about. Pianka was transported to Hamot Medical Center, where doctors pronounced him dead from his wounds. Additional details have not been revealed.

Erie County District Attorney Jack Daneri says his office is investigating the situation, and they're reviewing surveillance

tape shot from inside the bar for clues as to what happened the night Pianka was stabbed. Police did not say where Pianka was stabbed, but an assistant in Daneri's office claims Pianka had been stabbed once during an argument inside the bar. Police did not offer any details regarding what started the fight that led to Pianka's death.

The results of an autopsy conducted on Pianka late Saturday morning were not immediately available.

Pianka joined Dirty Looks last year, and contributed to the band's forthcoming LP, 'I.C.U.'
