Dirge Within

Chicago's Dirge Within will tour with Gwar this summer. Dirge continue supporting their E1 debut, 'Force Fed Lies,' which came out last September and features an appearance by Trivium guitarist Corey Beaulieu.

Guitarist Shaun Glass is thrilled about hitting the road with the scumdogs of the universe. "It's cool for me, since I have seen Gwar many times growing up in the Midwest. But one of the last times I saw them, me and Matt from my band went to House of Blues to see them -- and not many bands can rival their show," Glass told Noisecreep. "They are on top of their game and their new album is their best, musically. You'd think the music would take a back seat to the show, but they came back with a more metal album."

Dirge Within are currently wrapping up a tour with Fear Factory and have also toured alongside Trivium, proving Glass' point that his band is a good fit for most touring acts. "Dirge Within can tour with anyone," he said. "We are a real American metal band. We can tour with Gwar, Korn and Fear Factory."

As for the Gwar tour, Glass and company aren't worried about their gear being ruined by the liquids, juices and other wet substances Gwar spew during their set. "They are going on after us, so I'll make sure our gear is out of the room and the building," Glass said with a laugh.

When I mentioned that I was once 'sacrificed' during a Gwar show in Philly in 1999, thrown in their meat grinder as part of a cover story for a music magazine, the guitarist hinted that he wouldn't mind being a part of the stage show, either! "I'd love to get decapitated or chewed up by maggots on stage," Glass said.

Dirge Within also previously released a clip for the song 'Forever the Martyr.'
