Ozzy OsbourneBirmingham City University in Birmingham, England is quite a bold, forward thinking academic institution, a real contrast to the stuffy, elitist vibe often put forth in academia. In a testament to their open-mindedness, the school has named an award after the Prince of Darkness, Ozzy Osbourne.

According to a report in The Birmingham Mail, the Ozzy Osbourne Development Award will be bestowed upon the student that makes the most significant progress on their degree in the Media and Communication/Music Industry degree. Ozzy commented that he was "honoured" to have an award named after him, saying that "It's great to support Birmingham and the future of the music industry."

Ozzy isn't the only rocker who has an award named after him. UB40's Brian Travers also had an honor named after him, and the student with the best overall marks in the course will be the recipient of his award.
