Red Hot Chili Peppers + Queens of the Stone Age Head Up Atlanta’s 2013 Music Midtown
Atlanta's premiere music festival Music Midtown continues to enjoy a renaissance after a lengthy hiatus during the last decade. The music bash returned in 2011 after a six-year absence and this year's lineup should help the festival in reclaiming its spot among the top destination-based events. Leading the way will be the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Queens of the Stone Age, two veteran rock bands who also know a thing or two about reclaiming glory after a lengthy break.
The Chili Peppers took a well-deserved break after 2006's 'Stadium Arcadium,' and like the festival, they returned to the spotlight in 2011. Queens of the Stone Age, meanwhile, just earned their first No. 1 album with '... Like Clockwork.' The disc comes just shy of six years to the date of their last release, 2007's 'Era Vulgaris.'
As for the rest of the lineup, there's something for everyone. Imagine Dragons, Jane's Addiction, Journey, Drivin' N' Cryin', the Arctic Monkeys, Weezer, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Phoenix, Cake, 2 Chainz, Kendrick Lamar, Tegan and Sara, the Black Lips and the North Mississippi Allstars are also on the bill. Plus music fans can check out such upstart acts as the Neighborhood, Capital Cities, ZZ Ward, the Mowgli's, Mona and Reignwolf.
Music Midtown will take place Sept. 20 and 21 at Atlanta's Piedmont Park. Tickets for the event go on sale this Saturday (June 22). Check the Music Midtown website for ticketing and pre-sale options.
