Monster Magnet, the Sword Get Limited-Edition Metal Club Releases
It seemed like an eternity, but it was only a three-year wait for the release of 'Mastermind' from Monster Magnet. Three years has been the standard interval between albums from the psych rockers ever since 1998's stoned-out 'Powertrip' LP. But still, an album of this caliber deserves a big special-edition box set -- and now it's finally getting just that.
The 'Mastermind' box set is limited to 1,000 copies and includes a special digi-book CD edition with two bonus tracks and a USB stick holding in its digital grasp ringtones, an interview with frontman Dave Wyndorf, desktop wallpapers, the entire 'Mastermind' album in mp3s and a Napalm Records sampler.
All of this comes courtesy of Metal Club, who will be unleashing the Metallica 'Live at Grimey's' vinyl LP on Black Friday. All independent outlets that support Record Store Day have a chance of carrying the 'Mastermind' box set. Visit www.mymetalclub.com to find out if a store near you will have it in stock.
Also just released by Metal Club is a special 12-inch from the Sword. The hexagon picture disc features the choice 'Warp Rider' track '(The Night the Sky Cried) Tears of Fire' and the B-side 'Farstar.' This LP is limited to a pressing of 3,000 copies.
