Since heavy metal's birth when Tony Iommi threw that classic tritone into "Black Sabbath," horror has walked hand-in-hand with the world's most extreme genre. We've all experienced the marriage throughout the years, but finally a documentary is being made to explore how deep the connection between horror and metal goes.

The History of Metal and Horror speaks with fright film icons such as Gunnar Hansen (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre), Doug Bradley (Hellraiser) and John Russo (Night of the Living Dead). It also features interviews with some of metal's biggest names, including Metallica's Kirk Hammett, Slipknot / Stone Sour's Corey Taylor, Alice Cooper and Korn's Jonathan Davis.

As you can see above, the trailer for The History of Metal and Horror looks fascinating, but the filmmakers are in need of funds to complete the project. An Indiegogo page has been set up to raise $50,000, which will go towards attorney fees, insurance, travel, post production, promotion, talent fees, licensing and more.

A bunch of incentives are being offered for those who donate, including a History of Metal and Horror poster, DVD/Blu-Ray of the completed film and even a credit as Associate or Executive Producer.

As of this posting, the campaign has 51 days left to raise the majority of its goal, so if you'd like to donate, head over to Indiegogo.
