Lostprophets’ Ian Watkins Faces Child Sex Offense Charges
Noisey reports that Lostprophets frontman Ian Watkins has been charged with child sex offenses. The South Wales police force have released his name in conjunction with the crimes in order to corroborate evidence.
He has been charged with conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with a female under 13 and possession/distribution of indecent images of children. He is due to appear at a magistrates' court in Cardiff Bay today (Dec. 19).
A spokesman for South Wales Police released the following statement.
"A Pontypridd man has been charged with sexual offences against children and is due to appear at Cardiff Magistrates' Court today.
The 35 year old has been charged with conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with a female under 13 and possession/distribution of indecent images of children.
"In order to assist their investigation, South Wales Police has named the man as Ian Watkins, a member of the rock group Lostprophets."
Along with the Lostprophets rocker, police report that two women, ages 20 and 24 respectively, have been charged with similar offenses.
Watkins is the founder of the British rock band which has sold over three and a half million records and even reached number one on the U.K. charts with their 2006 record Liberation Transmission.
