On December 2, 2013, the pilot episode of the sci-fi animated sitcom Rick and Morty aired on Adult Swim. It brought to the screen Rich Sanchez, an alcoholic scientist, and his kind-souled grandson, Morty Smith, who have deviated from the familiar grandfather to grandson bond to become a interdimensional travelers who often find themselves in threatening situations. Somehow, the most threatening force in existence, GWAR, went unnoted as they made a shadowy appearance in the pilot.

On the run from gun-wielding space insects, Rick and Morty latch onto a floating vehicle, dangling above rows of other creatures, two of them being GWAR's Oderus Urungus and Beefcake the Mighty. The Scumdogs remained silent all this time until one Bohab spotted the silhouettes, which the band then shared an image of on Twitter (seen below).

The third season of the popular Adult Swim show created by Dan Harmond and Justin Roiland wrapped up on Oct. 1, 2017. As of May of this year, Rick and Morty was renewed for an additional 70 episodes and the program won a Primetime Emmy Award for "Outstanding Animated Program" over the summer.

Meanwhile, GWAR have since lost Oderus Urungus (Dave Brockie) since the pilot episode, but returned with new frontman Blothar in 2014. The Blood of Gods, their 2017 album, was the first not to feature Brockie, their last remaining founding member. GWAR are on tour now and will begin a co-headlining trek with Hatebreed in October, followed by more headlining dates.
