Jerry Cantrell will have his new signature G&L guitars in rotation for future Alice in Chains shows. The two new guitars, the Tribute Series Superhawk and the Tribute Series Superhawk Deluxe, offer some tweaks to his custom line of G&L guitars.

The Tribute Series Superhawk is an affordable option for players looking to capture Cantrell’s style and sound. It has a Soft Maple body and a Hard-Rock maple neck. The neck, with its ebony fretboard, is ideal for fast players. The body and neck, along with the Paul Gagon bridge pickup, are the same as Cantrell’s custom Rampage guitar. But the Superhawk adds another Gagon-designed pickup in the neck position, along with a three-way pickup selector switch, a tone control knob, and a coil-tap feature that lets players turn the pickups into single-coils. This is good for when a brighter, chiming sound is called for.

Another difference between the Tribute Series Superhawk and the Rampage is the bridge. The Rampage’s bridge has been traded for a G&L Saddle Lock hardtail bridge. The Saddle Lock bridge is considered to give players more sustain, more comfort, and more stable tuning.

The Tribute Series Superhawk has the classic white body and headstock Cantrell’s guitar has been known for, with a black Ebony fretboard. The Tribute Series Superhawk Deluxe sports a Flame Maple veneer with a Blueburst finish and a glossy black headstock. The Superhawk Jerry Cantrell retails for $715, and the Superhawk Deluxe runs $787.

Alice in Chains will be touring the U.S. starting in August and the U.K. in November to support their new album, The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here. For tour dates, check their website.

Cantrell recently sat down with G&L Guitars in a video interview to talk about his first G&L, his signature model, and the new Alice in Chains album.
