Get Scared Are Not ‘Another Mundane, Closed-Minded Group’
Utah goth rockers Get Scared, who released a three-song EP via Hot Topic last year, are getting ready to unleash 'Best Kind of Mess,' their debut full-length, on July 12th. The trio, who will be touring with like-minded bands Aiden and Vampires Everywhere!, aim to avoid the trappings of "sameness" that infect so many bands these days.
"We started the band with the motive to not be another mundane, closed-minded group of musicians," guitarist Bradley Lloyd recently told Noisecreep. "We were all sick of the regurgitated music that was being put out, and unhappy with how intolerant the music scene had become in our hometown. This gave us the passion to create music that not only went against everything in our hometown scene, but also to make music that truly made us feel whole."
As you can see from the track listing below, Get Scared have utilized all one-word titles for 'Best Kind of Mess.' "The one-word song titles will make more sense once the album is released," Lloyd said coyly. He added that the process of writing the record worked well since the bandmembers are all so different from one another. "We have our own unique input for each song," he said. "So I guess what I'm trying say is our songs are like baking a cake, a delicious rock 'n roll cake! Every ingredient in the batter of music is extremely important to each other and it wouldn't turn out nearly as audibly palatable without the mixing all of our musical input into each song."
