Artist: Daylight

From: Doylestown, Pa.

Song: "Youngest Daughter"

Album: Jar (Out April 30)

RIYL: Quicksand, Hum, Far

About the song:

"While all of the songs on the record are very personal to me, this song is especially, because the topic about which I wrote the song is something I'm still dealing with today. I have 3 younger sisters and my youngest sister has been battling a heroin addiction for a while now. She is only 19 and this has been going on for a couple years. I've had to watch my sister go to various rehabs and even go in and out of jail (where she is currently) and at the same time, watch it tear my mother apart. It's a very difficult thing for me to talk about, but I suppose that's what writing music is for.

I wrote this song about a letter I tried to write to my sister the first time she went to rehab. It's about how hard of a time I had putting my emotions into words to say to her. I had such high hopes for her to get clean, but in the end she relapsed and her battle with addiction has continued on.

This is one of my favorite songs on the record. And as I said, it's very important to me."
