Dan Nelson might not have received the $2.65 million he was seeking in a lawsuit against his former Anthrax bandmates, but the metal singer has reason to celebrate. As Blabbermouth.net reports, the New York rocker has welcomed a baby boy, Benjamin Nelson.

The new father, now a member of Blackgates, fronted Anthrax from 2007 to 2009. At the time of his dismissal, the pioneering thrash group issued a statement suggesting Nelson had resigned due to a serious illness.

Nelson denied that claim and sued for defamation, and while the terms of last month's settlement haven't been made public, a lawyer representing drummer Charlie Benante, bassist Frank Bello and guitarist Scott Ian told a judge they'd offered the singer a "fairly small dollar amount," as well as writing credit on last year's Worship Music album.
