A day after Chimaira suffered a mass exit, the band's lone remaining original member and frontman Mark Hunter confirmed that the band is calling it a career.

Earlier this week, guitarist Emil Werstler announced his departure from the band. A day later, guitarist Matt Szlachta, keyboardist Sean Zatorsky, bassist Jeremy Creamer and drummer Austin D'Amond all quit the band leaving Hunter as the lone remaining member.

While that may seem like a death knell, the end wasn't a given as Chimaira underwent a similar massive change back in 2011 with Hunter taking on mostly new players to keep Chimaira going. However, the rocker revealed in a posting Thursday (Sept. 4) that it was time to move on.

His posting states:

After fifteen full blown ass ripping years, it is with great honor to announce the end of Chimaira.

Thanks to everyone that supported the group in any way shape or form.
Everyone involved with the band from members to fans put their heart and soul into this project.

We achieved a lot. We bled a lot.
It f---ing ruled.

There was no immediate announcement as to what Hunter's next step would be. And while none of the other members offered specifics in their exit statements, they did express that they intended to pursue future music endeavors. In fact, the collective statement released by the four members who exited at the same time (minus Werstler) suggested that their future may include another project together.
