Anubis Gate Feel Immortal on ‘Golden Days’ — Song Premiere

The music of Anubis Gate is a conglomeration of classic '80s heavy metal, '90s post-rock and the kind of dark soundscapes that wouldn't sound out of place in a David Lynch film. The Danish group cite acts like Queensrÿche, Iron Maiden, Fates Warning, King Crimson and Genesis, as prime influences, but one listen to their forward-thinking songwriting and you know their sound is all their own.

Anubis Gate is gearing up to release their fifth album, a self-titled affair that finds guitarist Henrik Fevre providing the vocals for the first time. Noisecreep loves progressive metal and we're honored to bring you the exclusive premiere of 'Golden Days,' one of the new album's standout cuts.

Anubis Gate guitarist Kim Oleson told us about the inspiration behind 'Golden Days':

"It's a song about having major dreams and a naive belief in the future - a feeling of immortality and invincibility that especially young people experience and which is crucial if you want to make it to the top. But when they grow older they tend to feel more careful or vulnerable, 'cause they've learned some of life's lessons or have children to take care of. And all of a sudden invincible has changed to invisible - the golden days are but a memory; an old feeling of grandeur and lost youth, but replaced by a more solid wisdom and maturity that was lacking in the young dreamer.

"The single is an alternate version to that of the album and it will be accompanied by a video, which is in making as we speak. The single will be accompanied by a b-side which is a cover of Nik Kershaw's '80s mega-hit 'Wouldn't it Be Good.'"
