Bit by bit, Metallica are taking over the 2013 Comic-Con in San Diego. Late last week, the band announced they would appear at the convention to speak about and preview a piece of the 'Metallica Through the Never' 3D film. They followed with the revelation that they would perform a private show for Comic-Con festival attendees. And now comes word that the Metallica Pinball Machine, which was unveiled earlier this year, will also make its presence felt at the 2013 Comic-Con.

Blabbermouth reports that Stern Pinball, Inc., the company behind the Metallica Pinball machine, will stage their third annual Comic-Con International pinball tournament where players and fans will have a chance to test out the Metallica Pro machine. Those playing will have a chance to win a cash prize as well as a pinball backglass just by signing up to play at booth No. 503.

The tournament starts July 17 during Comic-Con's preview night and those qualifying will be invited to return each time they advance. The finals will be held on Saturday, July 20.

Stern Pinball are also giving away a Kirk Hammett guitar and they'll host an autograph session with pop culture artist Dirty Donny Giles on July 18.
