Watch John 5 Play His Favorite TV Theme Songs
We know you love music, but how well do you remember some of TV's top themes? On this edition of Loudwire's Gear Factor, powered by Sweetwater, the Music Experience's Squiggy meets up with guitar great John 5 at his SoCal home and the discussion detoured into talk of favorite TV themes.
For many of you viewers, this segment will offer up a sense of nostalgia. John 5 actually serves up two sitcom themes from his youth, with two shows that started in the '60s and ran into the '70s, but became popular with kids of the guitarist's generation. See how quickly you pick up on these classics.
The guitarist also picks two very familiar musical tags that are closely associated with entire cable networks. If you're a music loving fan that grew up in the '80s and '90s, one should immediately be recognizable, while the second might be a little harder to pick up.
This musical challenge comes to an end, with Squiggy asking John 5 for one of his favorite themes to an animated series, and it's no surprise that he gravitated toward one created by a fellow rocker. Danny Elfman came to fame in the '80s band Oingo Boingo before spending his latter years scoring for films and TV. See what John 5 rocks for his animated pick in the Gear Factor segment above.
John 5 is currently working toward a summer release for his new album Invasion and just released the new song "Midnight Mass" that you can hear below. You can also catch John 5 and the Creatures on tour at these locations. And, if you want to test your musical ability on TV themes and need some gear to do it, head on over to Sweetwater.com.
