The Melvins are giving fans some music to listen to in advance of their new ‘Hold It In’ album. They've just released the song ‘Bride of Crankenstein’ on iTunes and debuted another song -- 'Brass Cupcake' -- at Rolling Stone.

'Bride of Crankenstein' is a heavily bombastic song that serves as the album opener. It gives fans a taste of the effort which marks a collaboration between the Melvins’ Buzz Osborne and Dale Crover and the Butthole Surfers’ Paul Leary and JD Pinkus.

As for ‘Brass Cupcake,’ the catchy song is quite different from ‘Crankenstein.’ It features signature riff-heavy crunchy guitars and opens with the tongue-in-cheek line, “And she had what she wanted from me and she’s got a nice set of teeth.”

Dale Crover says he has a soft spot for the song, explaining, “'Brass Cupcake' is possibly my favorite track on 'Hold It In'! We wrote this song with Pinkus and Paul in mind, once we knew this project was a go.” He added, “It's our version of what we think pop music should sound like. Get ready to freak out!” The song can be heard at this location.

Buzz Osborne called the new album “a refreshing piece of fiction in a boring world of fact and bulls—t.” Hear for yourself when ‘Hold It In’ arrives on Oct. 14 via Ipeca Records. The Melvins will kick off a tour the next day on Oct. 15 in Sacramento. Click here for the complete list of tour dates.
