On June 26, The Devil Wears Prada will be releasing their first ever live CD/DVD called Dead&Alive.

In addition to the live footage, the DVD will feature a wide array of behind-the-scenes footage shot and edited by guitarist/clean vocalist Jeremy DePoyster. Highlights include exclusive backstage glimpses of The Devil Wears Prada in action from the studio to the stage, unveiling the day-to-day reality of the on the road.

The band will also spend its summer as one of the main stage headliners on the all-star Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, alongside Slipknot, Slayer, Anthrax, Motörhead.

Noisecreep has the pleasure of speaking with lead singer Mike Hranica about the new release and in an exclusive, we got our hands on a blistering performance of "Untidaled" taken from the upcoming Dead&Alive DVD.

Mike, this is a first for you guys – are you pleased with how it all turned out?

I was. It was by no means an easy process. Going back over the edits about a millions times [laughs]. It isn't easy but at the same time, doing a DVD is a little easier way of capturing the band. It's been a primary struggle of Prada's for sometime to put out records that capture the same sort of aggression that we try to put into the live show. I don't think we really did that until Dead Throne. But I think that the DVD really captures it all and that's important for our band and our style. So while it can be monotonous putting it all together, the DVD really grabs what we wanted it to.

How involved did you get in the whole production process?

Very, the whole band was. For me though, I got all involved in the art direction, how I wanted to see everything laid out and what not. Jeremy put in a ton of time and effort as far as the bonus content of the DVD – he filmed it and edited it. We all spent a lot of time, had a good time with it, and we all played a part in the final cut.

Do the band have self-imposed limits on what you chose to show or not show?

There's a line because we have some discretion as far as we want to share. I mean, we curse like sailors, but we didn't want to put out a DVD where we're just cursing the whole time [laughs]. So there's some discretion but for the most part, the style and how Jeremy puts things together really works well. We share a lot, we let you in, and with Jeremy's direction the balance I think is always there. You get what out personalities are like; you get what's it like to be with the band.

The big Mayhem tour starts soon. Last time we caught up you told us how excited you were to be heading out with so many favorite bands of yours.

I'm still very excited – we just did a South America tour, other than that, we've just working on the DVD and really looking forward to this amazing tour. It's very exciting to be with two of the biggest metal bands in the world, as well as the bands that are our close friends. We are stoked to be spending our summer this way.

I know you're a big Slipknot fan. And chance of you making an appearance up there with them?

Well... I would love to wear a mask [laughs].
