On the heels of their October EP announcement, Stone Temple Pilots will perform at the grand reopening of the Starland Ballroom on Friday, Sept. 6. Proceeds raised from the event benefit the Superstorm Sandy victims who reside in Sayreville, N.J.

Along with the damage to the Starland Ballroom from the October 2012 Hurricane, over 200 homes and local businesses were destroyed in the wake of Superstorm Sandy. Blink-182 are also playing at the venue on Sept 10. with a portion of each ticket sold going to Sandy relief. Other proceeds from the concert will go to research and treatment of diabetes, cancer, and other life threatening maladies.

As for Stone Temple Pilots, the group are all about change this summer, as they are  embroiled in a legal battle with former frontman Scott Weilland and have added Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington to their crew. The band's new single 'Out of Time' just hit No. 1, and a new EP will follow this fall. The disc, titled 'High Rise,' is a five-song collection featuring the cuts 'Out of Time,' 'Black Heart,' 'Same on the Inside,' 'Cry Cry' and 'Tomorrow.' The disc is due Oct. 8.

STP's new lineup debuted at KROQ's Weenie Roast in May, and although Bennington has been busy working on a new Linkin Park album and continues to perform with his group (they played at the Sunset Strip Festival), the singer is devoting this fall to touring with his new mates. Their trek begins Sept. 4 with Filter serving as their opening act. Filter will also take part in The Starland Ballroom Grand Reopening.
