Satyricon Summon Evil in New Song ‘To Your Brethren in the Dark’
Satyricon's upcoming album Deep calleth upon Deep will be summoned into the world in just one week. Before that new spell of darkness is released though, the band has put out another single from the record: "To your breathren in the dark."
The song takes its time in building up a dark, gloomy atmosphere. Guitar work twangs out for portals of emptiness to be called forth, lead vocalist Satyr's voice casting a shadow over everything in his direct ,evil sounding vocals. The song swings downwards, guitar work becoming more bold at each turn. It's something that listeners can sink deep into and lose themselves, an overcast of black metal power.
Of the track, Satyr says "'To your brethren in the dark' is definitely one of the flagship songs on the record. This is about emotion, our nature, the spirits, the autumn, the somber and rainy days, those who we lost and the ones who we have not met yet. You could say it is a tribute to the sorrow in man and to the drama of the nature we surround ourselves with. A song for the dark towers of the past and those who will rise in the future. Pass the torch to your brethren in the dark."
Recently, we spoke to drummer Frost, who has incredibly high standards for what the album will accomplish. "I believe we have found an entirely new expression on Deep calleth upon Deep – the album is simply alive in a different way than anything we’ve done up until now. Electric and magical – probably it is the result of musical evolution happening on a grand scale."
