Five Finger Death Punch singer Ivan Moody has publicly battled alcohol dependence in recent years. He's been sober for over one year now and credited Judas Priest's Rob Halford and Korn's Jonathan Davis for helping him during his struggles.

Moody was a recent guest on The Jasta Show podcast, hosted by Hatebreed's Jamey Jasta. He recalled his attempts to get sober and how Alcoholics Anonymous meetings failed to work for him. "Rob [Halford] is actually one of my — and I hate to put it this way — sober coaches," the Five Finger Death Punch frontman revealed.

"He's been sober now for almost 40 years [edit: Halford's sobriety began on Jan. 6, 1986]. And when I went through recovery, and even my bandmates and I weren't talking, Halford was on the phone with me," Moody continued. "I got two 10-minute phone calls a day, and Halford was one of them every single day. No matter where he was in the world, he picked up, he left me messages, he sent me cards."

The Metal God wasn't the only one by Moody's side. "Jonathan Davis [of Korn] was the same way — he was very supportive of me," added Moody.

Somewhat stunned at the reality, the singer turned his attention back to Halford, stating, "And this was coming from a kid who grew up on Judas Priest and I'm turning around and this guy is a father to me in certain ways and very much a piece of who I am now." Halford has ties to Five Finger Death Punch, having guested on their hit song "Lift Me Up," the lead single from their The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell, Vol. 1 album.

In March, Moody commemorated one year of sobriety by getting a massive phoenix tattooed on the side of his face.

Five Finger Death Punch also recently entered the studio to begin work on the follow-up to last year's And Justice For None. A new studio webisode from the fifth day of work can be viewed below.
