Boston tech-death thrashers Revocation are readying The Outer Ones, their seventh studio album which is due Sept. 27 through Metal Blade. They've booked a headlining tour to support the record, bringing Exhumed, Rivers of Nihil and Yautja on the road with them.

The run kicks off on Sept. 17 and will cover the United States in Canada over the course of the next month, finishing up with a hometown show for Revocation on Oct. 20. See the full list of stops below.

Speaking about the new record, Revocation vocalist / guitarist David Davidson commented, "I knew that I wanted to go in a darker direction and this is our most death metal album to date. Sometimes when death metal bands go down the prog route they lose some of that edge, but we wanted to keep the aggression at the forefront of what we do while still pushing our boundaries."

"The title is my ode to H.P. Lovecraft and the entities of pure cosmic horror that rule that universe he created," Davidson continued, discussing the lyrical themes present on The Outer Ones. "Since the new music we were writing was so evil and spacey in sections it seemed to be the right title to fit the overall vibe. But while the lyrical content is largely influenced by such writings, in every allegory there is of course some reflection of the real world, so I enjoy writing in a way that could have one overlaying meaning and then another deeper, symbolic meaning as well."

Meanwhile, the gore fiends in Exhumed will be touting their latest release, 2017's Death Revenge and death-prog risers Rivers of Nihil recently released Where Owls Know My Name. Yautja, a grind / sludge act from Tennessee, have one album to their name, 2014's Songs of Descent, and have released a pair of EPs since.
