2016 marks 30 years since the release of Neurosis' first demo, and the band has been playing some special anniversary shows. They have also announced details about their next studio album and an upcoming tour.

Fires Within Fires is the band's eleventh studio album, and it's set for a Sept. 23 release via their own Neurot Recordings. Prior to that, they'll be heading to Europe to play several shows and festivals, beginning with the Brutal Assault Festival in the Czech Republic Aug. 10. For all their dates, go here.

Meanwhile, vocalist/guitarist Scott Kelly has been busy performing in Hamlet at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. He plays the part of one of the Gravediggers, and is onstage playing music for much of the performance.

"This is an adventure for me," Kelly says. "I have never scored a film or a play before and I've always wanted the opportunity to do so. Thanks to my employers of the last 16 years, I am realizing this dream. Hamlet is an incredible ghost story about the darkest internal process."

Kelly continues, "This production is amazing, the actors are some of the best at their craft in the world, and the director, Lisa Petterson, is nothing short of visionary. My co-collaborator, Paul James Prendergast, is one of my favorite people and it was his idea to bring me into this whole thing. I hope that as many of you who can be here will be here to share in this unique experience."

Hamlet plays twice a week through Oct. 14, though Kelly will be absent from Aug. 8-22 for Neurosis' aforementioned tour. You can find details and ticket information for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival at this location.
