Mastodon's eccentrically outrageous guitarist Brent Hinds -- he's the one with the face tattoo -- is releasing two new musical projects on June 7th in the form of a dual disc set. Hinds' West End Motel and Fiend Without a Face projects are extreme and artistic in one fell swoop, but be forewarned: neither sound anything like Mastodon. In fact, you probably wouldn't know that a member of Mastodon was making this music unless someone told you so.

"I feel like a thousand oompa loompas have been lifted from my back," the always entertaining Hinds said in a statement. "I want to thank everyone that made this possible... In the time it took to put these two albums out, I wrote five more, so whoever likes this kind of stuff, there's a lot more where this came from."

The seedy West End Motel have been described as a conglomerate of losers, poets, and hobo-sexuals. Their seven-song debut is called 'Don't Shiver, You're a Winner.' Noisecreep recently checked out 'I Like It a Lot,' which is a strange, spoken-word style oddity that could be loosely described as indie art rock on amphetamines.

Fiend Without a Face are a cocktail of rockabilly-porn-metal that's dosed with elements of country and surf guitars. Their debut is a self-titled, 13-song affair. Check out the instrumental song 'Tsunami.'

Fans who pre-order the set will receive a free digital download.
