While Dream Theater are in the throes of finding a drummer to replace longtime skinsman Mike Portnoy, vocalist James Labrie is preparing to embark on his first solo tour in five years next month. He will be touring in support of his new solo record, 'Static Impulse.' On tour, Labrie will perform songs from the new album as well as tunes from his Mullmuzzler project and his other solo album, 2005's 'Elements of Persuasion.'

"I'm looking forward to playing these songs live," Labrie told Noisecreep. "We really believe in the music, and taking this show to the fans will be a rush."

He also pointed out the many differences between touring on his own and touring with Dream Theater, saying, "First off, it's markedly different for the very fact I'm playing with four other musicians. All extremely talented, but creates it's own vibe. Or if I was a hippie, I'd say, 'Vibrations man.'

"It's also different in the size of the rooms or number of people each and every night. This band is at the beginning of developing a fan base. Everything has to start at a much smaller level than I'm used to with Dream Theater. I am for it and find it quite exciting. It's kind of cool having the fans right in front of you, a personable and intimate experience to say the least."

Labrie wouldn't give us any set list hints, coyly joking, "I could, but that would be the end of your life." We guess we'll just have to attend one of the shows. Dates are listed below.
