Tony Mills, former lead vocalist of Norwegian heavy metal band TNT and English rockers Shy, has died at the age of 57. The singer was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer earlier this year. His family revealed news of the death through a statement on social media.

With TNT, the British-born singer performed from 2006 to 2013, appearing on studio albums The New Territory (2007), Atlantis (2008) and A Farewell to Arms (also released as Engine, 2010). Before that, Mills joined Shy in 1983 for their debut Once Bitten...Twice... and appeared on subsequent releases until departing in 1994. He returned in 2000 but ultimately left Shy to front TNT. "It is with a shattered heart that I announce the passing of my loving husband and best friend Tony Mills," the singer's wife, Linda Mills, announced Wednesday (Sept. 18). "He was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer in April of this year and lived his life to the fullest until he exhaled for the last time in my arms. He wanted to live, but wasn't afraid of death."

She continued, "Most will know him through his incredible contribution to the music world as a singer in bands like Shy and TNT as well as a solo artist and session vocalist. He leaves behind him a legacy that will live on for many lifetimes."

TNT shared the statement and added, "TNT band & crew deeply regret the passing of our good friend and 2006 - 2013 TNT singer [Tony Mills]. You gave us three great albums, many great concerts and many great moments together on the road and in the studio. We feel a terrible loss. Fuck Cancer! Rest easy Tony."

In addition to his work with the aforementioned acts, Mills released six solo albums, including this year's Beyond the Law. He further contributed to projects such as Nergard, Guild, China Blue and Serpentine.
