In This Moment’s Maria Brink Reveals Her Favorite Metal Covers
In This Moment have just released their latest single, a cover of Blondie's classic 'Call Me,' which appears on the 'Ultra-Violet' reissue of their second album, 'The Dream.' The U-V edition is in stores now, so accordingly, we asked very blond vocalist Maria Brink, who was knee deep in this summer's Warped Tour, what are her favorite metal covers are.
There were no rules -- it could be a metal band covering a non-metal song, or a non-metal artists covering a metal song. We just wanted Ms. Brink's opinion.
Deftones covering Lynyrd Skynyrd's 'Simple Man': "I love this cover because this song is one of my favorite songs, and hearing my favorite band cover it is kick-ass!"
Pantera covering Black Sabbath's 'Planet Caravan': "It gives me goosebumps when I hear it. Phil is a bad ass."
Marylin Manson covering the Eurhythmics 'Sweet Dreams': "This is great because he took an already killer song and made it dark and unique."
Tori Amos covering Slayers's 'Reign in Blood': "It's simply a beautiful, haunting and amazing cover."
Brink also provided a quick update on the band. "Right now, it's blazing hot out and I love it," she told Noisecreep from Phoenix. "Warped has been amazing so far, and it's a tough tour. But our fans are out at every show, supporting us, and we are making new fans, as well. It makes all the hard work pay off, since we are making new fans and hanging out with our In This Moment family all summer. I couldn't ask for anything better."
