Danzig Fulfills Huntress’ Singer Jill Janus’ Teenage Dream
Huntress have just come off a two-week tour with metal legend Glenn Danzig, fulfilling a dream for singer Jill Janus that she calls “surreal.” The California metal band, together only four years, opened for Danzig on his 25th anniversary tour with Misfits guitarist Doyle.
“As an angsty teenage girl, I used to dream that one day I would duet with Glenn Danzig,” she recalls in a press release. “Being chosen to tour with him was already mind blowing, but I also had the honor of singing ‘Skulls’ with him in St. Paul, Minn.!
“I was watching the show from side stage," Janus recalls. "Doyle had just played a couple Misfits songs with the band. Then I see Glenn turn and ask if I'd like to join him for a duet! Performing with two of my idols was stellar."
“This has been a killer experience for Huntress,” she continued, “Watching Glenn Danzig nightly from the wings, he has mastered his craft and we've learned a lot from him on this short run. He's also hilarious, his sense of humor and attitude have made our time with him so much more incredible! Hail Danzig!"
Janus had stated earlier this year at the Golden Gods that she had wanted to track down Danzig. Noisecreep asked her about it back in July at a date on the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival earlier this summer, and discovered they had met. Their tour together hadn’t been announced at that point.
“It was better than I expected,” she said. “He and I had wanted to meet up for a while, like I said we had worked with the same producer Chris Rakestraw. I was brought into his dressing room and we met. I got on my knees and I kissed his hand. I dreamt about doing that since I was in high school and I did it. So I lived out that fantasy.”
Huntress, consisting of Janus, guitarists Blake Meahl and Anthony Crocamo; bassist Ian Alden and drummer Carl Wierzbicky, will head back out with Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage and Testament, beginning in Toronto Oct. 22 and ending Nov. 26 in Silver Spring, Md. The band will then follow Lamb of God over to Europe where they will open their European and UK shows in early 2014.
Huntress are touring behind their latest album, ‘Starbound Beast,’ on Napalm Records. Their latest video, ‘Zenith,’ was directed by Phil Mucci, and is out now. You can watch it by clicking the button below.
