Five Cinco de Mayo Tips From Jaime Preciado of Pierce the Veil
The next few months for San Diego post-hardcore faves Pierce the Veil will be quite hectic. Not only will they be out on the Warped Tour all summer, in July the group will be releasing Collide With the Sky, their third album. Produced by Dan Korneff and Kato Khandwala, the album will be the band's first for the folks at Fearless Records.
With Cinco de Mayo happening this weekend, Noisecreep asked Pierce the Veil bassist, and fellow Latino, Jaime Preciado for five tips we can all use on the festive day. After all, according to their Wikipedia page, many of their fans call Pierce the Veil's songwriting style "Mexicore."
Check out Preciado's list below and remember to drink responsibly!
5 Tips for Cinco de Mayo by Jaime Preciado of Pierce the Veil
1. Never get Jose Cuervo tequila, that's a hangover in a bottle. Always get the good stuff, your body will thank you.
2. Try and have your Mexican friend's mom cook, chances are they're secretly already an Iron Chef.
3. Never under any circumstance should you ever microwave your tortillas. Don't be lazy, throw them on the grill.
4. If you don't have access to a real mariachi band, the "mariachi fiesta" Pandora radio station will do just fine.
5. Know the facts. Cinco de Mayo isn't Mexico's Independence day, that's September 16. Cinco de Mayo was the anniversary of a battle Mexico won against the French like 130 years ago. See you learn something new every day. Have fun!
