Chiodos Begin Recording New Album in New York Studio
Chiodos fans rejoice! The band entered the studio this week to begin recording their fourth album. The disc is being tracked at Dreamland Studio in Woodstock, N.Y. with producer David Bottrill (Tool, Muse, Stone Sour) and is expected to be released sometime next year.
The lineup for the new album will feature the return of vocalist Craig Owens and drummer Derrick Frost, who departed the band in 2009 before returning last year. It will also be the first Chiodos album with guitarist Thomas Erak.
"We're excited to be working with Dave Bottrill on this new Chiodos record," says Owens. "Some of the records he's done have influenced the band and helped us define what we've become. Muse, Tool, and Silverchair are all at the top of our list, and it's amazing to be working with someone that's already been a part of our history, indirectly. So for the next two months, we'll be hiding out in the woods of upstate N.Y., in a hollowed out church turned studio -- creating what is to be the next chapter of this crazy Chiodos journey. "
Erak adds, “I personally am excited to start my journey with the band, in regards to songwriting. This album should give me a new area to peruse in terms of guitar work.”
The band has a two-month window before they go back on tour. They are set to co-headline the 'Road to Warped '13 Tour' with Escape the Fate. The European run begins Nov. 9 in Berlin and wraps up in Prague just before Thanksgiving.
