Bloodbath have done a hell of a job keeping their new vocalist a secret. Even we have no idea who it is, but after a long wait, Bloodbath will announce the singer's identity on Sept. 16. Beyond that, Bloodbath have already broken the news that their next album, 'Grand Morbid Funeral,' will be released on Nov. 17.

Back in April 2012, we were the first to break the news of Mikael Akerfeldt having left Bloodbath. “I’m not in Bloodbath,” Akerfeldt told us before a NYC show. “They have a new singer, which I can’t say who it is. Bloodbath for me was never a serious project, it was just something I did for fun. We did a few songs on the last North American tour, we did two songs at the very last show because we were touring with Katatonia, so the whole Bloodbath band was there. It’s still fun, you know? But I think that some of the other guys in Bloodbath want to take it to the next level, which I don’t really want to do because I’m so busy anyways.”

If Akerfeldt's claims are correct, Bloodbath have been successfully hiding the identity of their new vocalist for two-and-a-half years -- pretty impressive. Bloodbath announced 'Grand Morbid Funeral' and revealed its album art through Metal Hammer earlier today (Sept. 11). Metal Hammer will also be the source to reveal the new vocalist's identity on Sept. 16.

“We’re proud of all these different styled releases and we loved doing each and every one of them, but the objective was never to settle with a certain style, so our time has come to shift once more," says guitarist Anders Nystrom. "It was already decided right after the last album that the next record would not become 'The Fathomless Mastery' part two, but in certain aspects it would actually become its antithesis. So prepare for an ultimate blueprint of destructive, raw, heavy, organic, and sludgy death metal.”

Get excited for 'Grand Morbid Funeral' in November and look out for the identity of Bloodbath's new vocalist coming Sept. 16.
