Well, that didn't take long! The annual Maryland Deathfest wrapped up its 15th installment over Memorial Day weekend earlier this year and with the dust barely settled, the first wave of bands have already been announced for the 2018 edition with Bloodbath and '70s occult rock act Coven being two of the biggest attractions.

After returning to being an indoor event this year, MDF will take the same approach in 2018 with the bands being split between neighboring venues Rams Head Live and Baltimore Sound Stage, with vendors setting up at Power Plant Live. The rest of the acts making up the first wave announcement include: -(16)-, Abhomine, Blood Incantation, Broken Hope, Chthe'ilist, Destroyed in Seconds, Dead Infection, Durian, Enemy Soil, Evoken, Eyehategod, God Dethroned, Gutted, Lord Gore, Opera IX, Phrenelith, Ritual Necromancy, Sadistic Intent, Sinister, Sublime Cadaveric Decomposition, Ufomammut, Wormrot and Zemial.

There is no word on which bands (if any) will serve as headliners over the course of MDF's four days. In 2015, Bloodbath made their long-awaited journey to the United States, serving as one of the weekend's headliners.

Early bird passes for the May 24 through May 27 fest are available now in a limited capacity and can be purchased here.

In recent years, the creators of Maryland Deathfest have branched out, putting on a West Coast edition of the fest (California Deathfest) as well as another overseas (Netherlands Deathfest). California Deathfest is set for Oct. 13 and 14 later this year with S.O.B. acting as the first night's headliner and Samael closing it out the following day playing Ceremony of Opposites in its entirety.
