Former As I Lay Dying guitarist Nick Hipa has spoken out about the potential of a reunion now that Tim Lambesis is a free man. On a new episode of The Jasta Show, Hipa says it all depends on what makes sense regarding the band members’ lives.

Earlier this year, metal fans were shocked to learn that Lambesis had been released from prison shortly before Christmas. The As I Lay Dying vocalist only ended up serving three years of the six-year sentence handed to him for attempting to hire a hitman to murder Lambesis’ estranged wife. Lambesis was released on parole in December 2016 and reportedly married his new spouse, Amanda Dubord, in April 2017.

The instrumental section of As I Lay Dying continued making music as Wovenwar, but didn’t experience the same massive level of success of AILD. On Episode 294 of The Jasta Show, Hatebreed’s Jamey Jasta asked Hipa if an As I Lay Dying reunion was in the cards. “It’s just something that not really… Man, I’m on the spot… People ask us about it a lot,” Hipa responds. “But what it comes down to, is just like, what makes sense with what we have going on in our lives. And we’ve got a lot of important things going on that don’t relate to that and we’ve made commitments to, and that’s what we are honoring at this moment.”

He continues, “Honestly it’s just not something we try and consume our thoughts with. Because it’s like we have families, businesses, professions, and a band—and all these things we’re super invested into. It’s like all of our attention is there with that at the moment.”

As I Lay Dying’s Twitter account stunned fans on June 19 of this year when the word “Activity” was mysteriously posted. No such “activity” has been reported since, but stay tuned to Loudwire for all your AILD updates.
