American Murder Song is the newest project from Terrance Zdunich (Repo! The Genetic Opera) and Saar Hendelman (Alleluia! The Devil’s Carnival). The mixed media of visual and aural representations takes form presenting an original set of murder ballads, and Arch Enemy's Alissa White-Gluz has been cast in the project as America's first female serial killer.

The story is set in the year of 1816 in America where there is no summer. White-Gluz portrays Pretty Lavinia, an outlaw who ran an inn near Charleston. The innkeeper made her fortune by attracting affluent patrons whom she then poisoned and robbed. In the video clip below, the frontwoman is seen dressed in ornate clothing, picturesquely stretched out across a regal sofa with a lit cigarette in her left hand and what is presumably a vial of poison in the other.

White-Gluz joins a cast already littered with other names on the musical front, including Sara 'Chibi' Taylor of the Birthday Massacre and Aurelio Voltaire, a renowned gothic entertainer. American Murder Song made its live debut at the Steampunk World Fair earlier this year in mid-May.

The first American Murder Song EP, 1. Dawn, is available here. A trailer below runs through a medley of the original murder ballads that appear on the set. For those who do not know, a murder ballad is a form of ballad, typically in the folk realm, that tells a narrative describing the events of a murder, either true or fictitious.

Arch Enemy's first album with White-Gluz up front was 2014's War Eternal, which reached No. 44 on the Billboard 200, the band's highest chart position in the U.S. to date.
