Andrew W.K to Serve as Opening DJ for Black Sabbath’s North American Tour
It's going to be a party on Black Sabbath's North American tour, as the metal icons have specifically extended a request to the King of Partying -- Andrew W.K.—to be their opening act for the entire run of dates. He will be serving as Sabbath's house DJ essentially, with the goal of warming up the crowd before the godfathers of metal take the stage.
W.K. will perform a special DJ set every night before Sabbath perform. The musician promises to spin a metalhead-approved selection of classic riffs, heavy jams and crowd-pleasing favorites spanning every era of hard rock and metal.
He has been asked to help get the crowd amped for the show and that's just what he plans to do. He is not taking the responsibility or the gig lightly.
Turns out, W.K. is just as surprised by this invite as you are and he's stoked. He said, "I'm just shocked. It’s just the most incredible dream come true! This is the greatest honor I could be given. I remember when the phone rang and I first heard that Black Sabbath wanted me to be their exclusive opening act. I was really in a state of disbelief -- almost sick with amazement and excitement."
He continued, "It took about three days until I fully mastered the reality of this opportunity and realized it was really going to happen. Black Sabbath’s music changed my life from the first time I heard it, and this tour will change my life all over again. I couldn’t be more thankful or humbled by this one-in-a-billion miracle. Can this really be real!? What kind of adventure will this be!?" Headbangers will find out once the tour launches next month.
