A setlist may remain the same throughout an entire tour, but moments like these can never be planned. The concert stage is an emotional place, and on the right night, an artist can be moved to tears.

One famous clip was filmed in 2011 at a Corey Taylor solo concert. A year following the death of Slipknot bassist Paul Gray, Taylor performed an acoustic rendition of “Snuff” in Baltimore. By the end of the song, Corey couldn’t hold back the waterworks, breaking down onstage to a thunderous ovation from the crowd.

Following the death of Chester Bennington, Linkin Park bandmate Mike Shinoda took a year off touring before going solo. At the 2018 Reading Festival, Shinoda gave a heartfelt speech to tens of thousands of fans, sharing how stepping onstage again helped get him through one of the most difficult times of his life.

Before Bohemian Rhapsody reignited Queen fever across the globe, Brian May was paying tribute to Freddie Mercury in concert. During May’s solo show in Brazil, a screen showed Freddie Mercury performing “Love of My Life.” After fans sang along with the late rock god, May wiped a single tear from his eye, mourning his dearly departed friend.
