Marvel’s Cinematic Universe (MCU) has spawned over a decade’s worth of films, including the game-changing Avengers: Endgame. These movies feature some of the most iconic and classic songs of all-time, spread across a myriad of movie soundtracks like infinity stones scattered across a vibrant and rich galaxy. Here are 10 of our favorite songs featured in the MCU.

Thor: Ragnarok (2017), “Immigrant Song” by Led Zeppelin

The song plays at the very beginning when Thor fights the fiery Surtur and again when he fights Hela near the end of the movie. Director Taika Waititi said that negotiations to include the song in the movie took the film’s entire length of production.

Iron Man (2008), “Iron Man” by Black Sabbath

After duking it out with Jeff Bridges and saving the day, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) finally admits to the public that he is Iron Man. The credits roll, and audiences are finally greeted to the song they’ve all been waiting to hear.

Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), “Escape (The Pina Colada Song)” by Rupert Holmes

This instantly recognizable song is played when Starlord takes out a couple of baddies who have stolen his beloved Walkman. One particular shot in the movie shows an alien enjoying the song—at least until Peter Quill knocks him out!

Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), “Cherry Bomb” by The Runaways

The Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 1 is the only soundtrack album in history to have reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 consisting of previously released music. According to Director James Gunn, “Cherry Bomb” was actually played on set as the actors were walking down the hall at the end of this scene.

Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), “Blitzkrieg Bop” by The Ramones

Tom Holland’s version of Peter Parker is a definite favorite because of the all the fun he has being a hero. In this scene, the classic song from the Ramones plays as he stops a bike thief and does a few flips for the neighborhood.

Captain Marvel (2019), “Just a Girl” by No Doubt

Captain Marvel is Marvel’s first big female-led superhero film, and in it, there’s a big fight scene that features this track from No Doubt. We don’t want to spoil it for you, so all we’ll say is that this is a scene that happens near the end of the movie and it involves lots of aliens, a cat named Goose and Brie Larson breaking some tables WWE-style.

Iron Man 2 (2010), “Shoot to Thrill” by AC/DC

The entire soundtrack for Iron Man 2 consists of AC/DC songs that were previously released. Director Jon Favreau is a huge fan of the rock band and wanted to mix the film with AC/DC’s greatest works.

Black Panther (2018), “All the Stars” by SZA and Kendrick Lamar

The film is one of the most successful Marvel movies to date and is the first film in the franchise to feature a black hero and majority black cast. The film made over a billion dollars worldwide, and the soundtrack won a number of awards including an Academy Award and a Grammy.

Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), “O-o-h Child” by The Five Fairsteps

Instead of an epic battle of might, Starlord saves the day by challenging Ronin (blue evil guy) to a dance off. He starts the dance by singing the Five Fairsteps, which results in one of the most memorable scenes in the entire MCU.

Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking” by The Rolling Stones

The song can be heard as Vulture, who is played by Michael Keaton, flies down into his lair. This was the first time the super villain was portrayed in a major motion picture. Keaton is no rookie when it comes to superhero films as he played Batman in 1989 and 1992.
