Wikipedia, to my surprise, had an entry for headbanging, which opens with a description that it is "a type of dance which involves violently shaking the head in time with music, most commonly rock music and heavy metal music." It's amusing to see such a niche aspect of alternative culture defined for mass consumption, but for those of us that have loved and breathed metal for years headbanging is near and dear.
