San Francisco's Futur Skullz feature former members of The F---ing Champs, Weakling, Drunk Horse, and Look Back and Laugh, and claim to play "metal that is punk." We're apt to agree with such a dead-on assessment of the particular type of racket that Futur Skullz pound out.

Noisecreep is stoked to premiere 'Five Year Plan,' a nasty, screamy punk song slathered with a metallic crust. The tune's galloping riffs remind us of a cross between CBGB's '80s heyday and 'Ride the Lightning'-era Metallica. The band's self-titled debut is due out June 28th via Kemado.

Listen to 'Five Year Plan'

"'Five Year Plan' was the one solo on the record that just wouldn't track," guitarist Josh Smith admitted to Noisecreep. "The usual bag of tricks wasn't happening. I was totally frustrated. By the time we got a good one, it was so weird and pissed off and sideways. It's sounds like Robitussin."

Robitussin? Really? Really.

Smith also commented on the photo of the band that's featured in this post. "This pic is from us playing ['Five Year Plan'] at the Eagle Tavern in San Francisco (R.I.P.). You gotta go to absurd lengths to try to replicate [the guitar solo] live," he said. "Totally can't do it, but some interesting things happen in the process."
