It is with a heavy heart that Noisecreep reports that The Dream Is Dead guitarist Jared Southwick, who was also a member of Harakiri, has died as a result of the liver and kidney condition he was hospitalized for earlier this month. His condition rapidly deteriorated, and he passed away yesterday. He was just 34 years old.

According to Lambgoat, the band issued the following statement when Southwick fell ill: "We just want to confirm that our guitar player Jared is indeed gravely ill right now at a hospital in Muncie with a liver and kidney condition (and all the complications that come with it). Thanks everyone for all of your concern, kind words, and visits. We know that he and his family appreciate it. Please keep him in your thoughts."

Southwick's funeral is scheduled for Saturday, June 25th, at the First Presbyterian Church on Riverside Avenue in Muncie, Indiana.

The politically charged The Dream Is Dead, which formed in 2000 with the express interest of bringing back the friction, abrasiveness, and politics to the watered down hardcore scene, will play their final show at this year's Dude Fest.

Noisecreep would like to take this opportunity to extend our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Southwick and his family.
