Far's "let's get back together and play some shows" fun has been transformed into a full-blown reunion, complete with a new record deal from Vagrant Records. The band is currently recording in Southern California, working on what will be their first album since 1998's criminally underlooked 'Water & Solutions.'

Frontman Jonah Matranga, known for his one-man acoustic jam Onelinedrawing, told Noisecreep that the band's attitude is "now or never. We're busier and busier and getting older. Once we played the shows, we realized, 'Let's do it now. It's been ten years.'"While Far have no expiration date in the eyes of diehards, Matranga takes a more realistic tack, saying, "Dude, I will always, always love music that we made. I hate that 'I hope I die before get old' idea bands get. This reminds me of youthful craziness."

Their popular cover of Ginuwine's 'Pony' might look like "youthful craziness", but it was a blast of fresh air for their career. "This is when no strategy becomes a strategy," Matranga says, noting that major labels spend millions of promotional dollars on radio campaigns that often fail. 'Pony' took off at radio in the most natural way: word of mouth. The cover went on to sell 20k downloads on iTunes (download 'Pony').

While the band never planned to get back together, it appears that a reunion and new music was their unavoidable destiny.
