Tool’s 2001 megahit “Schism” has been turned into classical sophistication! Check out this 40-piece orchestra perform a dazzling re-imagining of the alt-metal track.

This brilliant cover has come thanks to Metamorphestra, a musical collective from Los Angeles dedicated to bringing popular music into the orchestra pit. You may have already seen their cover of Rage Against the Machine’s “Killing in the Name” floating around YouTube. Well, Metamorphestra’s version of “Schism” is just as impressive.

The musicians are actually planning to release a full album, The Ship of Theseus. Along with Tool and RATM, Metamorphestra have performed System of a Down’s “Toxicity,” Weezer’s “Say It Ain’t So,” Muse’s “Stockholm Syndrome” and more! The collective also promises arrangements of Radiohead, The Mars Volta, Deftones and more are on the way.

Metamorphestra have launched a Kickstarter page to help fund The Ship of Theseus. Rewards for those who donate include a copy of The Ship of Theseus and/or the orchestra’s previous album, Tantamount. Shirts, artwork and even tickets to a Metamorphestra performance in L.A. are also up for grabs.

Take a listen to Metamorphestra’s version of Tool’s “Schism” above!
