Megadeth's Dave Mustaine is currently shredding across the country with the Experience Hendrix Tour, jamming with fellow musicians such as Billy Cox and baiting gearheads with talk of wah pedals along the way.

In fact, take a look at some fan-shot footage from the event's recent stop in Milwaukee. You'll spy Mustaine putting the hurt on a fiery rendition of the Jimi Hendrix Experience's mid-'60s firecracker, "Purple Haze."

In another clip, Mustaine and Cox get down on an all-star version of Hendrix's anthemic "Stone Free," another classic tune written by the revered rock guitarist who died almost 50 years ago after a short but highly influential career.

Cox actually performed with Hendrix in the guitarist's lifetime, the bass player appearing on the counterculture icon's 1970 live album Band of Gypsys. He's the only surviving member of Jimi Hendrix's three main bands.

Meanwhile, the Megadeth frontman is writing towards the band's next album ahead of the inaugural Megacruise, and the veteran metalhead's main act just released a remastered greatest hits collection called Warheads on Foreheads.

Also joining Mustaine and Cox on this year's Experience Hendrix Tour are guitarists and artists such as Joe Satriani, Johnny Lang, Dweezil Zappa, Eric Johnson, King's X's Doug Pinnick and Double Trouble's Chris Layton.
